Bleaching is a great way to have that smile you want. There are some things you need to know about bleaching:
Not all bleach is the same, zoom laser bleaching is the most intense and the longest lasting. It penetrates deep into the tooth and can remove some internal stains as well as external ones from smoking, coffee, etc.
A sensational smile is a “brighten up” shorter-term bleaching with a light that is great for occasions, but does not last as long as the zoom.
Custom trays with dental bleach are the most reliable and can be almost as white as you like. It also is great for staying white as you can “touch up” your bleaching every few weeks or months as needed. The trays are custom so you don’t overuse large amounts of bleach.
No bleach can work on certain teeth. Bleach does not usually affect restorations, such as crowns or fillings other than removing surface stains. Teeth that are discolored in lines or spots, frequently will not give you the result you want.
Almost all bleach leaves your teeth sensitive. There are ways to “handle” this but you must expect some sensitivity.
Even a thorough cleaning will not change the color of your teeth. Removing tartar and stains will brighten your teeth, but the basic color of your teeth is a combination of genetics, age, and habits.
That being said, I’ve never had anyone who wasn’t happy with their results as long as the limitations were explained to them.

Professional teeth whitening uses high-concentration bleaching gels that are not available over the counter. We offer two kinds of whitening: in-office and take-home.
In-office whitening offers the fastest results. We prepare your cheeks, gums, and tooth-root surfaces with a protective barrier before applying a professional-strength hydrogen peroxide gel. The gel is left on the teeth for about an hour, leaving you with immediate noticeable results.
Take-home whitening is another effective way to whiten your teeth, but the results are largely determined by you. With take-home whitening, custom-made whitening trays are made just for you – one for the top arch of your teeth and another for the bottom. We will send you home with whitening gel, which you will use to fill the trays before placing them over your teeth. The trays are usually left in for about an hour at a time and should be used over the course of several weeks to ensure the best results.
To make sure your whitening results last as long as possible, you will need to maintain your usual conscientious routine of brushing, flossing, and visiting your dentist regularly. Additionally, you should avoid drinking and eating foods that can stain such as red wine, coffee, tea, and mustard. If you smoke, use your gleaming white teeth as an incentive to quit. We may also recommend a minor touch-up every so often to keep your smile bright and beautiful for years.
